The lithograph, folded in four, is characterized by the image, doubled specularly, of a hand opening a curtain. The central area is circumscribed by a black frame, which is echoed by an outline in red that delimits the image. From one edition to another, the lithograph is animated by a different original intervention, constituted by a drawing of geometric motifs or a collage of fragments of reproductions on various subjects.
The gesture of the hands invites the gaze into the space of the representation, which is emphasized by the square black outline. Each time the outline contains figures and forms, constellations that are multiplied or dispersed, fragments falling freely, or drawings in expansion: a theatre of apparitions inspired by the artist's iconographic repertoire, a potential container for any image, an ideal space in which to breathe life into the endless possibilities of a vision that is unfolding.
The original collage on which the print is based is documented in the online Catalogue Raisonné of the works on paper at number GPC-2424.
