Two overlapping canvases of different sizes hold down six photographs – three viewed from the recto, the other three from the verso – of Paolini’s solo show hosted by the Galerie Annemarie Verna in Zurich in October 1973. The legible images illustrate Elegia (GPO-0196) and two views of the exhibition space, while the overturned images feature a caption inscribed by the photographer Thomas Cugini who documented the event in Zurich.
The same theme was developed in two other variants from the same year (GPO-0259, GPO-0262), along with which it is part of a series of eleven works with the same title (at times followed by a different date), made between 1973 and 1974 (GPO-0258, GPO-0259, GPO-0260, GPO-0262, GPO-0263, from GPO-0267 to GPO-0270, GPO-0273, GPO-0274).
