Pendant, 1976
GPO-0327
Pencil on primed canvas mounted on reversed canvas, pencil on reversed canvas mounted on primed canvas
Two parts 60 x 60 cm each, overall dimensions variable
Signed, dated, and titled on the verso of the second canvas, upper stretcher bar, right: "Giulio Paolini 1976 / Pendant"
La Raccolta dei Campiani, Brescia
Each of the two elements, placed close together on the same wall or else arranged opposite each other on two facing walls, serve as pendants to each other and at the same time duplicate the other element's vision in smaller proportions. At the centre of the reversed canvas is a smaller canvas viewed from the recto; in the middle of this canvas is a square drawn in pencil. The canvas viewed from the recto features a smaller reversed canvas in the middle as well, also with a pencil-drawn square in the middle.
