In the photomontage reproduced on the photographic canvas the paintings portrayed by Johann Zoffany in Sir Lawrence Dundas and His Grandson (ca. 1775) have been replaced by the image of the painting itself, thus giving rise to the paradox of a motionless time that causes an infinitesimal instant to become eternal. “Sir Lawrence Dundas and his grandson here and now posing in my painting were and will always be posing in the paintings in the room painted by Zoffany”.1
