Wind Rose

Dressmaker mannequin, collage on coloured paper, photo print, plexiglas sheets

Six collages and six plexiglas sheets 50 x 50 cm each, photo print 50 x 50 cm, overall dimensions 170 x 190 x 150 cm

Dismantled work

A black tailors dummy in an upside-down position is surrounded on the ground by reflectors applied to sheets of coloured paper and pointing towards the centre, as if to blind the gaze of the upside-down "figure" (the images are held down under plexiglas sheets which are arranged so that they are staggered). The tripod instead holds a rolled up photographic print of the sky that, akin to "natural" light, offsets the artificial light of the reflectors.
The work was conceived for the solo exhibition at the Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris in November 1992, where the coloured sheets and the plexiglas sheets alluded to the range of the spectrum and to the transparent sheets used in the main work on display (
Contemplator enim, 1992, GPO-0694).
The same theme was developed in a version from the same year, with primed canvases instead of sheets (GPO-0695).
