The photograph of a drawing by Antonio Canova depicting a man who is seated while leaning against a table, framed as though it were a facsimile and set on a period chair, reproduces the drawing in its original dimensions. The torn photographic enlargement of the same work represents the subject of the drawing in a life-size version, with partially rolled up fragments arranged on the chair and ground.
The same theme was formulated in two previous variants, made in 1984 (GPO-0527) and in 1987 (GPO-0603), respectively.
