Un passo indietro (I. B.), 2024

A circular plexiglas sheet holds a collage consisting of photographic tondi on a cosmic theme, arranged so that they are askew; appearing in the midst of the planets, the planisphere, and the starry background is an image of the Greek philosopher Parmenides.1 Atop the plexiglas sheet, corresponding to the intersection between the three tondi, is a plaster cast of a ballerina’s feet en pointe, associated with two gilded wings and a few multicoloured feathers.
The key to interpretation here lies in the paradox between the movement of the flight, alluded to by the wings and feathers, and the stationary position of the feet en pointe, expressing an inevitable "step back". This is suggested by the title with respect to the flight towards an ideal dimension, symbolically represented by the gilding of the wings and the blue colour of one of the feathers.
The initials in the title pay tribute to the person receiving the work, who inspired the theme-based area of dance.
