Four different "images" – at the top left a colour photograph of a cloudy sky, then, clockwise, a blank sheet of paper, a black sheet of paper, and a sheet of silver paper – are pinned with drawing pins to the four canvases of exactly the same size, arranged so that they form a painting. In the areas corresponding to the corners of each of the canvases, the drawing pins hold down the corners torn from four different materials: graph paper (first canvas on the upper left), photographic canvas (second canvas), photo paper (third canvas), and blank paper (fourth canvas on the lower left).
