Iper (To M. D.)
Collage on photo print applied to wooden panel
100 x 100 cm
Private collection, Bologna
The black and white photograph reproduces the artist’s work Iper (a M. D.) from 1965 (GPO-0089), consisting of a telescope placed before a window, facing infinity. In the revisitation of this theme, the colour insert with the image of the Earth amplifies the incommensurable dimension called into play by the work, with respect to the limits of our field of vision.
“In this new version of Iper – the artist declares – the photograph taken at the time by Anna in my studio shows the image of the Earth balanced on the telescope. The round shape of our planet and that of the telescope lens vie for an absolute dimension before the little or nothing that we can glimpse from the window".1
