En plein air (Two Imprints for N. T.)
Wooden tripod, country easels, plexiglas sheets, fragments of photographic reproductions
Two plexiglas sheets 50 x 50 cm each, overall dimensions 160 x 60 x 60 cm
Niele Toroni Collection, Paris
• 1996, Paris, Galerie Yvon Lambert: the tripod stood on a plexiglas sheet following a criterion for the exhibition design that was also applied to the other works on display.
Two plexiglas sheets set down on two outdoor easels arranged on a wooden tripod – the two sheets were arranged in the location that had been chosen for the canvas – each hold down a torn fragment of a colour reproduction of a daytime or night-time sky. In addition to being a tribute to his friend, the artist Niele Toroni – whose initials are contained in the title and is evoked through the two "imprints" – the work constitutes "a sort of symbolic clock that marks the artist's ceaseless commitment to the work",1 in Paolini's words.
