White passepartout in plexiglas case, plexiglas plinth, crumpled sheet of drawing paper, pencil on wall
Plexiglas case 91 x 91 cm, plinth 145.6 x 36 x 36 cm, overall dimensions 270 x 270 x 70 cm
Galleria Massimo Minini, Brescia
The centre of the elements on the wall (case and squares drawn in pencil) should be placed at the viewer’s eye level (160 cm from the ground). The plexiglas plinth should be 35 cm from the wall.
The framing of a white passepartout, which is in turn framed in a plexiglas case, is reproduced and amplified by two slightly larger squares outlined on the wall. In the foreground, on a plexiglas base placed in the area corresponding to the cut-out of the passepartout, a crumpled sheet of drawing paper offers “all’istante” (instantly), the presumed albeit illegible image that is missing from the case.
The sequence of the frames is the foretaste of a painting that is both announced and subtracted, actually broken up into an enigma: its vacant image become “object”, a body that is material and tangible, yet also unknown and mysterious.
