In the collage held inside the slit in the crystal ball, the image of a classical sculpture – similar to the Dancer of Tivoli, inspired by the Praxilla of Lysippus, both headless and armless – stands out against the black background featuring a drawing of rotating orthogonal lines.
As a whole, the female figure in a precarious balance on the sphere, associated with the dynamic of the squares against the background, recalls the search for a balancing point in which everything is composed in an image of ideal perfection, symbolically evoked by the crystal ball, the classical sculpture, and the identification of the female figure with Venus, goddess of Beauty.
The work is a study for a large-scale work in progress.

Roman copy of the Prassilla by Lysippus.
