The elements applied to the primed canvas evoke the traces of a presumed painting. Lined up along the edges, starting from the top and in a clockwise direction, are the following elements: a fragment of an unprimed canvas, the fragment of a photograph of a ruler, a piece of black photographic canvas, and a stretcher bar.
The same theme was formulated with other elements in a variant made during the same year (GPO-0292).
