Four gilded frames propped up against a wall so that they are staggered and facing different directions frame a torn fragment of a photograph of the sculpture Endimione dormiente (1819-22) by Antonio Canova and, in the first frame to the left, the torn detail of a colour reproduction of an Alpine landscape.
The same theme was developed in two other variants, larger in size, one of which made in 1980 with canvases (GPO-0431) and the other in 1990 with glass sheets (GPO-0660).
