A concentric series of frames involves the sequence from outside to inside of a black frame with a white passepartout, a photographic frame similar to the first one that frames a colour reproduction of the view of the garden of Villa Medici in Rome with the Pavilion of Ariadne painted by Velázquez, and, lastly, in the area corresponding to the vanishing point of this series of "paintings inside a painting", a further photographic frame around an empty cut-out (made at the centre of the seventeenth-century view) so as to allow for a glimpse of the portion on the wall. The reproduction of Velázquez's painting also features, inserted in the foreground to the left, a detail of another work by the same author, the verso of the great painting of the Meninas, in such a way that the cut-out at the centre recalls the enigmatic mirror of the famous painting of the royal couple of Spain.
