Intervento artistico in un negozio di Torino, 1996

GPO-0778

Artistic Intervention in a Shop in Turin

Mosaic of glass tiles, gilt frames, polaroids

Dismantled work

For Carlo Tivoli's fashion shop at Via Roma 278 in Turin – designed by the architect Gianfranco Cavaglià and inaugurated on 9 October 1996 – the artist conceived an intervention on pillars situated up against the walls and on the elevator car clad with a mosaic made of dark glass tiles. A "gallery" of golden frames overlaps a staggered "drawing" of rectangles of the same format added to the mosaic finishing. Added to the dual golden pattern is a large number of Polaroids – professional fashion photographs made available by the client – scattered over the surfaces covered in mosaic as well as adjacent to the glass panels.
