Scala della Ragione, 2023

The collage, propped on an easel, offers the multiplication and progressive rotation of the view of a flight of stairs of the Scala della Ragione in Verona, thus obtaining a telescopic perspective.1 The architectural element of the flight of stairs is thus the artifice and the component of the outlined vanishing point. The perspective converges towards the image of a nebula, underscored by the intersection of the red diagonals in the area corresponding to the focus.
The blinding light in the finder of this viewing device transforms the Scala della Ragione into a mysterious image, which opens the gaze to a metaphysical dimension.

1 The Scala della Ragione is an integral part of the monumental complex of the Palazzo della Ragione, the seat of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Achille Forti, where the work was displayed for the first time on the occasion of the solo show held in the fall of 2023. Located at the start of the exhibition path, the work welcomed the visitor who had just climbed the flight of stairs to access the exhibition.
