Collection of the artist
The assemblage of heterogeneous elements, arranged in random order on a plinth, suggests a composition in progress, in which the components wait to be arranged in a less precarious configuration. The circular dynamic – emphasized by the round objects, the compasses, and the image of the target – alludes to the search for a situation in balance, where each object finds its ideal position. The games – puzzle, cards, chess – underlie the excitement of an unpredictable outcome, the dilemma of the winning solution.
Figuratively speaking, this sort of personal “atlas” recalls the artist’s work-table, on which he always arranges his cards from scratch, as he imagines them making way for something that is fulfilled (symbolically represented by the Genesa). An open game, with neither an end nor a goal, where it’s not winning that counts, but, rather, getting lost in the conjectures, overspilling beyond every temporal and spatial limit.
