A photographic reproduction of the Sleeping Hermaphrodite is held down under a round plexiglas sheet, atop which lies a double Genesa. The doubling of the sphere echoes the twofold nature – male and female – of the hermaphrodite.
The mythological figure of the androgyne (son of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty) and the symbolic model of the sacred geometry represented by the Genesa alludes to an abstract and unchangeable dimension, that is, the very dimension of art, separate from any involvement with the real world.
