The work can be installed on a black, white, or plexiglas plinth, or on a small table. The lamp cable must fall down along the plinth or the table.
A portrait frame with a black passepartout, set in front of an unlit halogen lamp, frames the colour reproduction of a waiter, pictured against the interior of a Grand Hotel which is brightened by the glittering crystal chandeliers. On the glass of the portrait frame, in the area corresponding to the tray, as if it were the "offering" served by the waiter, is a torn detail of the image of Uranus, while other fragments of planets are scattered all around. Between the portrait frame and the lamp is the colour reproduction of a crumpled star chart.
The work is part of a series of four variants, made between 1988 and 1995, which are distinguished by the collage on the portrait frame and the intervention associated with the lamp (GPO-0633, GPO-0644, GPO-0650, GPO-0760).
