Bound book with blank pages, red pencil and black pencil on paper, black pencil

Closed book 32 x 24.5 cm

Collection of the artist

The book is inclined, with the help of a small support made of white wood, styrofoam or other material (8 x 16 x 8 cm).

Zurich, 2000: the artist arranged the four versions of Pagine with the books opened to different parts: the first book was opened to the middle, the second one was opened to the first pages, the third one was opened to the three-quarter mark, and the fourth one was opened to the middle again.
Bologna, 2011: the four versions of
Pagine were all arranged with the books opened to the middle.

A bound book of blank pages opened to the middle features a black pencil inserted in the part corresponding to the stitching and pointed downwards. From the outer edges of the book eight rectilinear segments converge towards the centre: the diagonals are traced in red pencil, while the other lines are in black pencil.
The blank pages of the book play the same role as a blank canvas or a blank sheet of drawing paper, which along with images, lines, or a work tool prepare the space of the representation: the scene reserved for the becoming and the hypothetical revealing of a drawing, an image, a work.
The work is part of a group of four variants, made in the same year, each of which distinguished by a different intervention on the book (GPO-0847, GPO-0848, GPO-0849, GPO-0850).
