Pink Lady, 1990

A glass goblet is placed on the glass of a gilded and silver-gilt frame in such a way that it is staggered on a sheet of drawing paper, on which the left half of the image used for the print edition of La pittura abbandonata (1985, GPE-0053) is applied. The glass is placed so that it corresponds to the centre of the image, marked by the oval cut-out of the palette-cum-lake that at the same time constitutes the area where two circles equal in diameter to the foot of the glass intersect, drawn in pencil on the lithographic print. The open compass is placed on the image, in contact with the two circles, while the glass holds a fragment of red Murano glass.
Pink Lady is part of a group of four works made between 1989 and 1991, given the name of an aperitif, in which a cocktail glass that differs each time serves as a pivot for a composition of elements staggered amongst themselves, which in the ensemble seek the perfect balancing point (GPO-0645, GPO-0649, GPO-0662, GPO-0687).
